After School Cooking & Baking for Children 8 – 13 years old on Mondays

Sign up for 1 class or all 6. Must attend at least 1 class in order to participate in the Competition Day on October 25th.

Every week we’ll work together to make and bake 3 – 5 delicious recipes from scratch. As we work through recipes, your child will learn, hands on, the fundamentals of cooking and baking while gaining confidence and eventually independence in the kitchen. As we cook and bake we emphasize organizing, prioritizing and planning, in addition to thinking critically & creatively, they learn to substitute ingredients and how to make recipes their own unique creations. We teach, “clean as you go” and how to clean up the kitchen after we’ve made our recipes too. And then, we eat everything we make and discuss our finished products as well as any challenges we encountered while making a recipe to improve on it the next time. Our cooking classes are lively, fun and action packed. We teach knife skills, equipment use and care and countless kitchen tips, tricks and lessons that will last your child a lifetime. Recipes will be chosen each week based on the group’s tastes and what they want to learn to make. For the last class we hold a friendly competition where the class breaks into teams and uses their skills and creativity to make, bake or cook a winning creation. It’s so much fun! Examples of recipes we’ve made in past classes: Zucchini Rollatini, Mac & Cheese with Broccoli, Italian Apple Cake, Go-to Red Sauce, Chicken Fried Rice, Cardamom Peach Scones, Beef Empanadas, Pasta from Scratch, Shaved Brussels Sprout Salad with Cranberries & Pistachios, Homemade Vinaigrettes, Deviled Eggs – 3 Ways – Curry, Dill and Dijon, Chocolate Chip Cookies Topped with Sea Salt, Tuscan White Bean Soup, Raspberry Ricotta Cake, Barbecue Jackfruit on homemade Wheat Buns, Cinnamon Rolls, Sweet Potato Tagine over CousCous and many, many more!
