An Introduction to Plant Based Whole Food Cooking and Baking Camp for Children 10 – 15 Years Old

An event every day that begins at 9:00 am, repeating until August 6, 2021
Monday, August 2nd – Friday, August 6th, 9am – Noon
In this informative hands-on half day camp we’ll make a 3-course meal each day as we teach basic cooking and baking techniques, try different and unusual foods and learn to navigate recipes from easy to complex using only plant based whole foods. A plant based diet is rich in vegetables, fruit, whole grains, nuts and beans. For the first four days we’ll learn to make some of our favorites – vegan macaroni and cheese, barbecue jackfruit, whole grain burger buns, almond lemon poundcake, kimchi fried rice and much, much more. On Friday, we’ll break into teams and host a friendly cooking competition. Throughout the week we’ll work on organization and cleanliness in the Kitchen, learn proper knife skills and essential safety knowledge. We always taste everything we make, bake or cook and critically evaluate recipes for how we might make them differently or better the next time. Emphasizing healthy, organic and whole foods, this week long camp will give children the tools they need to make healthier lifestyle choices throughout their lives.
Please Note: We cook and bake with the very best ingredients we can purchase which may include gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, eggs and milk. Unfortunately, we can not accommodate for special diets and/or severe allergies in our cooking camps.
Covid-19 Policies & Protocol – We are limiting camps to ONLY 12 children per session and will follow protocols set forth by the RI Governor’s Office, Department of Health and Center for Disease Control.
*Must have 8 children registered to hold each camp so invite all of your child’s foodie friends to join the fun!
